With yoga originating over 5,000 years ago to date, there are many different styles, or forms, of the art that have been interpreted by many people in many different ways. Ultimately, yoga did originate as one style and each individual style today have basic yoga postures that are implemented, keeping the basic art of yoga within every yoga regime. Some postures in yoga are much more complex than others, as well as some are very simple. For someone that is very advanced in the art of yoga, the basic yoga postures will generally be used in the warm ups, or can even start a specific pose off. For example, A complex pose may require that you obtain a basic pose primarily, then altering to get into the more complex posture thereafter.
If you are first starting out with yoga, you should start out with a few basic yoga postures. One of these postures is called the “Cat-Cow Stretch,” which is a very basic stretch that requires you to be on your hands and knees and stretches your spine.
Another basic posture is call the “Child’s Pose-Balasana.” This pose is very basic and can be done by even people that have never performed yoga before, or by those that tire easily. It is a resting pose that is very simple, yet very effective in yoga. The “Corpse Pose – Savasana” pose is another very basic pose that is used for stretching when you are very tired and is also used at the end of most yoga regimes.
The greatest benefits from the art of yoga depend solely on what you are trying to achieve. Basic yoga postures merely help you along the way and once you have gotten into a normal regime with yoga, most likely you will be able to perform these particular poses without thinking or trying, but merely getting straight into the relaxations and meditations of the wonderful art of yoga.
